Natural Resource Management
Project: Natural Resource Management

Objective
Pasture, forest and wildlife resources are managed by local communities in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way.
Project description
Monitopia is increasingly affected by climate change. Rising temperatures accelerate desertification and water shortages. Usable natural resources, such as pasture, forests and wildlife are scarce. This is mainly due to mismanagement including overuse as well as illegal hunting and deforestation. Sustainable resource management is not a national priority and hardly known in local communities. The project therefore seeks to improve national legislation with regard to natural preservation and improvement in general.

Current progress description
The planning phase has been completed and most activities are scheduled or piloted. Political support is good, but we expect challenges in the pasture management component. The activity package for wildlife management remains uncertain.
